CAMPAIGNSThetford River Corridor Improvement One of Thetford's greatest assets is the river corridor. Suggestions are welcomed on how to enhance and improve the area, and volunteers are wanted to make up a work party.
The River Corridor Working Document has been prepared by Thetford Town Council taking into account numerous views of residents, including those of the Thetford Society.
The document is intended to give guidance how Thetford’s River Corridor could be improved and seeks to facilitate those improvements using resources and input from interested parties such as Breckland Council, Thetford Growth Point, Norfolk County Council and The Brecks Partnership. Thetford Town Council welcomes comment and offers of help in achieving the stated improvements

Meeting with Breckland Council Following a series of letters published in the Thetford and Brandon Times, which condemned Breckland Council, the Thetford Society arranged a public meeting in the Carnegie Room in Thetford with Breckland Council and Thetford residents.

Abbey Cottages and Barns, Monksgate The Society is currently campaigning to save the historic Abbey cottages and barns from redevelopment. These nationally important Grade 1 listed buildings date back to 1400 and before and are part of the St Mary's Priory whose ruins overlook the watermeadows and Little Ouse river. They are the only examples of such buildings surviving within the precinct of a monastery in Britain and the only examples within a Cluniac Priory in Europe.
